The actress has a love child from Mexican actor Sergio Mayer. She did not tie the knot with him and took up acting career. The love child named Sergio Jr was born in 1998.

Rakesh Roshan produces Kites and Anurag Basu is the director. In the film, Barbara plays a Latino girl who falls in love with an Indian. Kangana Ranaut is the other heroine of the film.
