Though
Prateik
Babbar
has
done
three
films,
he
hasn't
had
a
single
hit
so
far.
However,
Prateik
is
lucky
to
have
found
a
godfather
in
music
composer
AR
Rahman
who
recommended
him
in
Gautam
Menon's
remake
of
Tamil
superhit
film
Vinnaithaandi
Varuvaayaa.
Prateik
Babbar,
son
of
Late
actress
Smitha
Patil
has
so
far
not
struck
lucky,
though
he
was
greatly
appreciated
in
all
his
three
films
-
Jaane
Tu
Ya
Jaane
Na,
Aarakshan
and
My
Friend
Pinto.
When
director
Gautam
Menon
decided
to
remake
the
Tamil
blockbuster
Vinnaithaandi
Varuvaayaa,
AR
Rahman,
who
has
known
him
for
over
a
decade
suggested
that
he
gives
Prateik
a
chance.
Though
many
other
young
heroes,
including
Tiger
(Jackie
Shroff's
son)
was
being
considered
for
the
role,
AR
Rahman
felt
strongly
that
Prateik
was
the
right
person
for
the
role.
As
per
sources,
AR
Rahman
was
extremely
impressed
with
Prateik
Babbar's
performance
in
Jaane
Tu
Ya
Jaane
Na
and
had
predicted
that
he
had
a
bright
future.
AR
Rahman
also
told
Gautam
Menon
that
a
screen
test
was
also
not
required
for
Prateik.
Well,
with
the
backing
of
someone
as
talented
and
successful
as
AR
Rahman,
Prateik
Babbar
can
smile!
