Actress Manisha Koirala's life has often been under media glare for various reasons. While her success in films earned her a star status, it turned out to be a curse in her later part of the actress' career due to more-than-required attention of the public on her personal life, which had a few black marks because of Manisha's drinking habit. Now, the 41-year-old's real life story seems to have inspired Madhur Bhandarkar for his next film Heroine.

A leading daily has reported that Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine is loosely inspired on Manisha Koirala's life. Her journey to stardom centred around her personal life is the base of the story. The story of the upcoming films focuses on an actress' troubled relationships marred with several controversies, which reportedly has references to the Dil Se girl's life. However, the director, who is known for making realistic films, has completely denied it and says that the film is not inspired by any real life actor's life.

Earlier, there were reports that Heroine, which also feature Arjun Rampal, was inspired by Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe's life.
