Why Hrithik Roshan Is Not In Shekhar Kapur's Paani?

Paani, Shekhar Kapur's ambitious project is ready to go the floor and the the critically acclaimed director has roped Sushant Singh Rajput for the lead role. The movie has been in the pipeline for many years and rumour was that Hrithik Roshan was to star in it. But now it has been confirmed that Hrithik is not going to be a part of the project.

It was a surprise for everyone and one has to wonder that why Hrithik Roshan lost out the opportunity to work with such an esteemed filmmaker. Hrithik had announced during the Marrakech International Film Festival in April that he is going to star in the project. Hrithik is one of those actors who gets a profit-share from the movie in addition to his fees and this was not acceptable to the production house, Yashraj Films. But the Yashraj studio has refuted these claims and said that Hrithik was never approached for the film. A source close to the actor said "Paani has been in the making for a very long time and we hope the film finally goes on floor."

On the other hand, Shekhar Kapur had something totally different to say on his blog. He wrote " Hrithik Roshan is one of the finest actors in the industry and every director would like to work with him. When I had started writing Paani, I only had one actor in my mind to play the lead and that was Hrithik. Even when I sat down with A.R Rehman to compose the music I always told him to imagine Hrithik." But as the years passed and I got busy with my hollywood projects and the story kept evolving and so did Hrithik and I realized that it was too late. But I hope Hrithik works in one of my future project."
