Akshay Kumar recently signed Reema Kagti's film, Gold which has him essaying the role of the hockey legend, Balbir Singh. But do you know that Farhan Akhtar was approached to play a pivotal role in this movie?
Yes, you heard it right. As per a Filmfare report, Reema tried to convince Farhan to take on the parallel lead's role. However, he was apprehensive of being seen as Akshay's second fiddle. The actor was apparently unsure and feared how it would affect his A-list image if he took on the project. However, he instead decided to stick to decision of producing this film.
Reportedly, the plot of Gold is set in 1948, revolves around the time when India won its first ever Olympic gold medal as a free nation. The film is slated to release on 15th August, 2018.
Meanwhile, Akshay's upcoming films include Jolly LLB 2, Crack, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and 2.0. On the other hand, Farhan's last film, Rock On 2 was a box office disaster and he will be next seen in Lucknow Central.
