This Is Strange! Ranveer Singh Will Only Shoot For Padmavati When Shahid Kapoor's Role Would Be Cut

Ranveer Singh is one of the most successful actors of Bollywood today. And it's not easy for everyone to handle success so early in their career.

According to a report in DNA, ''Ranveer Singh wants Shahid Kapoor's role cut down, after which he will begin work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati.''

According to reports, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has signed Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for his next magnum opus Padmavati.

A recent report in a leading web portal said that Ranveer Singh met Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently and prepared some home-cooked Sindhi food for him.

Deepika Wanted An A-Lister For Padmavati

According to DNA, ''It was difficult casting the role of Padmavati's husband as he is seen as a weak character and so, not many actors were willing to play the role. Deepika wanted an A-List star to play her hubby.''

''And that's how Shahid came on board,'' says a source close to the actress. Now, Sanjay has asked Deepika to talk to Ranveer and convince him.

Delay

It is said that Shahid Kapoor is enjoying the delay in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati's shooting because his paternity leave has gotten extended.

First Schedule

It is reported by a leading daily that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati was supposed to begin its first schedule last week, but it still hasn't.

"The reason for that is Ranveer Singh's (he plays Alauddin Khilji in the film) condition: he'll begin shooting only if the other actor in the film - Shahid Kapoor (he plays Rawal Ratan Singh) - is given a guest appearance billing. Ranveer proposed, but SLB chose to dispose. The director cannot comply for two reasons,'' the source said.

The source added, ''One, he has taken the same number of days from both actors. Shahid's is not a cameo or a guest appearance, it is a parallel role. Two, he will leave the film if asked to take the guest appearance billing. Shahid accepted the role because it is on par with Ranveer's. He won't play second fiddle to anybody at this stage of his career.''

The source also revealed, "Now, Bhansali has asked Deepika to talk to Ranveer and convince him to start the film. Because the film will not move if Ranveer doesn't come around."

If you remember, when Shahid Kapoor came on board, Ranveer Singh had asked Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a narration and the director was quite miffed about it.

Well, only time will tell what will happen with SLB's ambitious project Padmavati!
