Talking about the same a source told Bollywood Life that Shahrukh Khan increased his fee to reject Padmavati, ''Shahrukh Khan, who is busy with number of projects doubled his fee to reject the role. Now he is one of the highest paid actors and his demand was too huge for the film and so that didn't happen". Yes! Also there were was a strong buzz that due to Ranveer Singh's tantrums SLB even approached SRK to play the lead Allauddin Khilji, but all that never happened and it was just a baseless rumour.''

According to reports, Shahrukh Khan was approached to play the role of Deepika Padukone's on-screen husband and King Rawal Ratan Singh of Chittor.
Deepika's Husband's Role
Earlier it was reported that initially television actor Vicky Kaushal was signed to play Deepika Padukone's husband in the film, but the actress didn't approve of it.
Deepika Wanted SRK
It was also reported that both Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted Shahrukh Khan to take up the role of Deepika's husband in the movie.
Intimate Scenes
Rumour has it that there are many intimate scenes between Deepika Padukone and her on-screen husband in Padmavati. So Deepika wanted someone with whom she is friendly and comfortable.
SRK Busy
Recent reports suggest that Shahrukh Khan is already very busy with Imtiaz Ali's film with Anushka Sharma. After this film, the actor will start the shooting of Anand L. Rai's film.
SRK's Fee
Not so long ago, a leading daily had reported that Shahrukh Khan charges 40-45 crores per movie, which means that the actor demanded a fat fee of 90 crores for Padmavati.

Many insiders are saying that Shahrukh Khan was not interested to play the second fiddle to Ranveer Singh in Padmavati. So, he doubled his fee to reject the movie.

After Shahrukh Khan rejected Padmavati, Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached Shahid Kapoor to play the role of Deepika Padukone's husband in the movie.

As per the reports, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone will start shooting for Padmavati from November 5th. The movie also stars Deepika's rumoured boyfriend Ranveer Singh.
