After several speculations, the leading lady of Aamir Khan- Amitabh Bachchan's much talked about film Thugs Of Hindostan was announced last week and it turned out to be none other than Aamir's Dangal co-star Fatima Sana Shaikh.
But wait, there's more to it if the latest grapevine is to be believed! As per a Pinkvilla report, not just Fatima but Katrina Kaif will also be a part of Thugs Of Hindostan.
A Bollywood life report further quoted a source saying, "Aditya Chopra loved Aamir Khan's pairing with Katrina in Dhoom 3. Salman had also recommended her name, so Aditya really wanted her to be a part of Thugs of Hindostan. His team approached Katrina with the part and she has accepted it."
While names like Vaani Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt did the rounds, eventually it was Fatima Sana Shaikh who bagged the coveted film.
Recently when Fatima was asked about playing Aamir's leading lady in Thugs after essaying his daughter in Dangal, she replied, "I knew that people are going to think like this. I am an actor after all. Suppose if I hadn't acted in Dangal, and got an offer to act opposite Aamir sir, I would have, of course, said yes."
She further added, "Even today, if I am asked to act opposite Shah Rukh Khan, I would stand in the frame immediately. When you have grown up watching these stars and are fond of them, you would definitely want to work with them. I used to get disheartened and sad [when I heard such things], because I thought, 'Me playing his daughter in the film shouldn't be the reason for me not getting the part'.
Fatima said, "There have been so many instances of [female] actors playing mothers, daughters and lovers [with the same male actors]. That's our job, and you keep playing different characters from different age groups. So, I don't have any issues."
Meanwhile the film's director Vijay Krishna Acharya too had some kind words for his heroine.
He was quoted saying, "The role of the girl is pivotal to the film so it was crucial for us to find the perfect fit. Through a rigorous round of auditions and action workshops, we found in Fatima a truly dedicated actor and a gifted performer of the action. We are very happy to have found the perfect girl for our film."
So folks, from what we hear Thugs Of Hindostan will have two important female characters. The film will hit the shooting floors on 1st June and is slated for a Diwali 2018 release.
