As per Catch News, Katrina Kaif will essay the character of a leading Bollywood star in the film whereas Deepika Padukone will be seen as a rural Indian girl romantically paired with Shahrukh Khan.

The Film Has Been Tentatively Titled 'Katrina Meri Jaan'

The report further suggests that the initial title of the film was ‘Katrina Meri Jaan' as the basic plot revolved around the journey of a little man, from a small town in India, to meet his idol, Katrina Kaif. Katrina Meri Jaan is just a working title and the actual title is expected to be announced along with the rest of the star-cast in the coming days

Earlier while talking about his look in the film, Shahrukh Khan had said, "My look is very different from Kamal Hassan's in Appu Raja. We have done the test, we are through with the trailers. We will be releasing it (look) properly. It's important that the audience accepts our effort."

When quizzed why Rai chose SRK as his protagonist, the filmmaker had quipped, "I have always cast on actor based on the demand of the character. Casting Shah Rukh Khan is the demand of the role exactly the way it applied on Dhanush to play Kundan in ‘Raanjhnaa' or Kangana Ranaut to play Tanu. It was never about making a film with a superstar."
