Bollywood
films
have
been
smitten
by
the
sports
bug
and
we're
seeing
a
sudden
trend
of
'sport
themed'
movies
being
released.
Not
letting
go
of
the
hype
surrounding
to
it,
Akshay
Kumar
has
joined
the
bandwagon
and
is
all
set
to
star
in
a
sport
themed
film
titled
'Gold'.
Akshay
will
portray
the
role
of
the
Hockey
player
Balbir
Singh,
who
won
three
successive
gold
medals
at
the
Olympics
between
1948
and
1956.
Balbir
Singh
was
the
Indian
Hockey
team
captain
during
that
period.
Akshay
Kumar
will
undergo
special
training
in
Hockey
by
professionals
and
will
also
learn
from
the
current
Indian
Hockey
team
players.
Along
with
Akshay
Kumar,
Vicky
Kaushal's
younger
brother
Sunny
Kaushal
is
all
set
to
be
a
part
of
the
Indian
Hockey
team
in
the
film.
The
film
'Gold'
will
go
on
floors
from
March
2017
and
is
set
in
the
timeline
of
1948.
A
source
close
to
the
movie
was
quoted
as
saying,
"The
cast's
training
with
real-life
hockey
players
is
expected
to
kick
off
in
the
next
two
weeks
in
Mumbai.
Sunny
was
recently
signed
for
the
part
of
one
of
the
younger
players
in
the
team
and
will
begin
prep
soon."
Vicky
Kaushal's
brother
Sunny
Kaushal
debuted
in
Bollywood
with
the
film
'Sunshine
Music
Tours
and
Travels'
in
2016.
The
film
was
a
disaster
and
sank
without
a
trace.
Hopefully
the
film
'Gold'
will
give
him
recognition
and
nurture
his
acting
talents.
