The Quint quoted a source close to the project as saying, "Once Prabhas heard the narration and the scope of his role, he reportedly did not want to sign the Bhansali dream project."
Prabhas Wanted A Meaty Role
"Prabhas' reasoning could have been that since Raja Ratan Singh didn't have a meaty role in Padmaavat, all the hard work and image that he had worked for having invested 5 years in the Baahubali films would have lost its impact. He was looking for nothing less than a central role at par with that of Deepika Padukone."
Shahid Replaced Prabhas
Going by this surprising revelation, one can assume that Shahid wasn't the first choice of Sanjay Leela Bhansali to portray the role of 'Raja Rawal Ratan Singh' in Padmaavat.

The star is busy with the shooting of his much ambitious project, Saaho. The film will be released in Telugu & Hindi and it also casts Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Jackie Shroff.

Last seen in Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor will be next seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu opposite Shraddha Kapoor. The film also casts Yami Gautam. The trailer of the film has already been released and it's getting positive response from the audience as well the as critics!
