Remakes and sequels are in! After Phir Hera Pheri [Hera Pheri], Krrish [Koi... Mil Gaya] and now Lage Raho Munnabhai [Munnabhai M.B.B.S.], there's talk that Sunny Deol and K. Sera Sera are planning the sequel to Ghayal, which marked the directorial debut of Rajkumar Santoshi. The sequel will be scripted and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, who is close to Santoshi.

"Yes, Sunny is keen to make Ghayal II. As of now, we're still working on the script," confirms Dhulia, "The sequel will star Sunny again, while Om Puri [he enacted the role of an honest cop] will be the only character that'll be retained from the first part." Is it a wise move to make a sequel after almost sixteen years [Ghayal was released in 1990]? "The fact that the producers [Sunny, K. Sera Sera] and distributors feel that the sequel is viable is enough motivation," Dhulia adds.

Meanwhile, Dhulia is planning to meet Santoshi in a couple of days. "I haven't met him yet. But I'll do so and acquaint him with the developments," he states.
