Mumbai (UNI): Noted filmmaker Kamaal Amrohi's grandson Mashhoor Amrohi (24) has created a record of sorts by becoming the first actor, who has not only written his debut movie, but is also directing it. Mashhoor launched his maiden venture Hum Laakh Chhupayein Pyaar Magar under the Kamaal Amrohi Pictures earlier this week the 'mahurat' of which was attended by prominent film personalities like director David Dhawan, actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri, producer O P Dutta, his director son J P Dutta and his wife Bindiya, director Shashilal Nair, glamour actor of yesteryears Zeenat Aman, singers Sonali and Roop Kumar Rathod and director Mohit Suri.

Mashhoor said though he aspires to pick up from the rich legacy of his grandfather, yet unlike the latter's larger-than-life projects like Pakeezah, Mahal, Daera, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee and Razia Sultan, his film is a contemporary romantic comedy that deals with today's youth and their happy-go-lucky lifestyles. Featuring debutant Vishakha Singh as the female lead opposite Mashhoor, 'Hum Laakh...' also stars Govinda, Jackie Shroff, Kiran Kumar, Mukesh Rishi, A K Hangal, Mac Mohan, Shehzad Khan and Suvedh Lohia in key roles. While Mashhoor himself has written the story and screenplay, the film is being produced by his father Tajdar Amrohi. The music for the film has been composed by Siddharth Suhas along with debutant composer Abuzar. Six songs have already been recorded in the voices of Kumar Sanu, Shaan, Suraj, Sunidhi Chauhan and Adnan Sami. With the completion of the first schedule soon after the launch, the film is already 20 per cent into its making. The unit will fly to London for further shooting by mid-July, Mashhoor said.
