After much speculation, the title of Vishal Bharadwaj's next film, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello has finally been decided upon. Among options like O Saathi Re and Issak, the winner is Omkara. And most of the cast and crew members are happy with the choice. In the beginning, the makers were quite unsure about the most suitable title. And so a contest, seeking the public's opinion was launched. Approximately 25 lakh people, the world over voted. And more than 80 per cent of them opted for Omkara.
Mangat is happy about the title since they always wanted a title beginning with the alphabet 'O.' This title was also the first choice of director Vishal Bharadwaj, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma. The other title which was quite a favorite among others was Issak. It was the title that other members of the cast like Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi wanted. Well, we're sure it should not matter now. After all it was the bard himself who said that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet!
