Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's literary classic and directed by Pradeep Sarkar, Parineeta was invited to the Berlin Film Festival to be a part of the International Forum of New Cinema. The screening of the movie at the Festival saw people sitting on the aisle and reacting well to the twists and turns in the movie.

A most interesting occurrence that attracted everybody's attention was that majority of the audience were heard humming the tune from the famous song 'Piyu Bole' after the screening. Watching Germans fall in love with the music says all about how well the music of the film was appreciated at the Festival.
