We know about Raveena Tandon-Thadani's special bond with an orphanage, the actress adopting two girls and taking up the cause of the mangrove trees in Lokhandwala but the latest feather in her social issues cap is - her charitable deeds with the Lotus Eye Hospital in Juhu.

Just cause

"Yes I had gone there yesterday to give away some prizes," admits Raveena.

"Whenever a hospital asks me to make an appearance for them, I never charge a single paisa but I have one condition - that they should treat at least one or two patients I recommend, for free and these are underprivileged patients, not people who can afford treatment.

I have sent my maid, who has been having eye problems or the children at the orphanage, to get their eyes tested."

How long has this been going on? "The Lotus Eye Hospital is the second one that I am associated with today. I have always believed in not charging hospitals for money while making appearances.

During the time when (late) Neetu Mandke had wanted to make the Mandke Hospital in 4 Bungalows he had approached Chi Chi (Govinda) and me to perform at a show to raise money for the hospital.

Instead of asking for money to perform at the show Chi Chi had asked a ward to be named after his mother (Nirmala Devi) while I had asked for two underprivileged patients of mine to be treated free every year. After that, I got married and became busy till The Lotus Eye Hospital approached me for an appearance."

What does the Lotus Eye Hospital do? Says Raveena, "They have a section called Orbis, that treats underprivileged or poor people for free. I am associated with Orbis and had gone for their function yesterday," informs Raveena.
