There's good news for The Blue Umbrella. A leading international studio has shown a keen interest in distributing the film in the European markets and if things go as per plans, this Vishal Bhardwaj-directed film will have a major global release in 2007.

Confirming the development, Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV told this writer, "We are in talks with the international distributors. That's precisely the reason why we have decided to postpone the release of the film in India. If the tie-up happens, The Blue Umbrella will have a simultaneous global release."

The Blue Umbrella was slated to be the first release of 2007 [5th January], but will now be released globally, including India, in April/May 2007.
