Movies based on real life incidents have started being accepted in the commercial Hindi film market. The success of recent films Provoked and Shootout At Lokhandwala is proof of this trend. Cashing on this propensity is director Mohan Sharma and producer Sumeet Chawla. Their film 26th July at Barista, to be released on July 27, is a tribute to Mumbaikars who had suffered the flooding of the city on July 26, 2005.

The film depicts the pathetic situation that people were in for days --- some walked for hours to reach home while their near and dear ones anxiously waited for them, yet others were stuck in their work places or in the streets. The film stars mostly newcomers -- Simran Vaid, Paramveer, Ashish Duggal, Rita Joshi, Kabier Sawhney, Seema Padey and Anil Mahtre.
