Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have appeared in a string of movies together [Andaaz, Aitraaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Waqt] and as luck would have it, all of them worked big time at the box-office. The duo, it is learnt, have been teamed after a brief hiatus in producer Ratan Jain's [Venus] next venture, to be directed by the King of Comedy, Priyadarshan.
"We have signed Akshay for the Priyan project, but the news about Priyanka starring in the film is absolutely untrue," Ratan Jain denies the development outright, "We are in the process of finalizing the cast, but not once did we broach her name in the entire discussion. It's a false siren."
Jain describes the film as a thriller with ample doses of humor. "It's not comedy alone, there's an element of thrill as well," he says. The film is expected to roll in mid-2007.
Meanwhile, the Jains of Venus are all set to start a series of films in the coming months, to be directed by reputed names such as David Dhawan and Abbas-Mustan; the latter have directed Khiladi, Baazigar, Baadshaah and Humraaz for them. "Although we haven't finalized the cast for Abbas-Mustan's film, we have decided to team Akshaye Khanna and Govinda for the David Dhawan entertainer. Govinda will definitely star in it, while we have sounded off the idea to Akshaye," Jain discloses.
Akshaye and Govinda in a David Dhawan film... Sounds interesting, doesn't it?
