Anita Guha, who became famous after playing the lead role in the 1975 blockbuster, Jai Santoshi Maa passed away last night following a cardiac arrest. She was in her 70's. Guha was suffering with bad health since a while and was also hospitalised.
Guha had come down to Mumbai to take part in a beauty pageant and landed up with film assignments. She did a number of films in her career, but it was her portrayal of Sita in Sampoorna Ramayan in 1961 that made her famous. This success was followed by Jai Santoshi Maa (1975) which was one of the biggest hits of that era. Anita also starred in Sanjog (1961) and multi-starrer Nagin (1976).
Guha was good friends with veteran actresses, Mala Sinha and Helen.
