While
much
has
been
written,
seen
and
heard
about
Pakistani
rock
sensation,
Mustafa
Zahid,
who
made
his
Bollywood
singing
debut
in
Mahesh
Bhatt's
forthcoming
film,
Awarapan,
not
much
has
been
reported
about
the
23-year
old
Annie,
who
is
responsible
for
the
chartbusting
Maahiya
track
in
the
film.
The
music
video
of
Maahiya,
shot
in
Mumbai,
features
Annie
along
with
Emraan
Hashmi
and
sultry
model
Mrinalini
Sharma,
who
is
debuting
in
Awarapan.
The
Gagan
Grewal
show
on
the
BBC
Asian
Network
managed
to
capture
Annie
in
Lahore
and
asked
her
about
how
her
hit
track
in
Pakistan
made
its
way
to
the
soundtrack
of
Awarapan.
"I
am
originally
from
East
London.
When
I
was
in
Karachi,
I
remember
my
dad
calling
me
from
London
to
say
that
Mahesh
Bhatt
had
heard
my
song,
loved
it
and
was
keen
to
incorporate
it
in
one
of
his
forthcoming
films.
My
dad's
a
bit
of
a
joker
so
I
thought
he
was
kidding
but
he
wasn't!
In
no
time,
Mukesh
and
Mahesh
uncle
flew
me
to
Mumbai
to
record
Maahiya
for
Awarapan,
and
I'm
so
glad
everything
happened
so
soon," laughed
Annie.
Interestingly,
when
Annie
was
asked
about
her
real
name,
she
said,
"My
real
name
is
Noorul-ann.
But
everyone
knows
me
as
Annie."
It
seems
Annie
is
currently
working
on
her
new
album
with
some
top-of-the-line
British-Asian
artistes,
following
the
success
of
Maahiya.
