dance,
art
and
literature,
will
be
held
in
Los
Angeles
from
August
10
to
15
to
mark
the
60th
anniversary
of
Indian
Independence.

Global
said
Indian
Splendor
will
showcase
the
best
new
films
and
artistes
from
India
to
Hollywood
and
Los
Angeles
audiences
and
act
as
a
catalyst
for
building
long
term
connections
between
Mumbai
and
Los
Angeles
film
communities.
At
the
same
time,
he
said
Indian
Splendor
will
provide
a
stage
to
nurture
emerging
Indian
diasporic
talent
in
cinema
and
the
arts.
India born tennis star and veteran Hollywood film producer Ashok Amritraj is the cultural ambassador for Indian Splendor.
Dean of the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television Robert Rosen said Bollywood and India's art and culture has captured the imagination of the world. He said Cheng Sim Lim, Chief Programmer at the UCLA Film and Television Archive will be in Mumbai till April 10 to preview and select films for the Indian Splendor event.
Mr Modi said Indian Splendor was announced in Los Angeles on March 24 with a special screening of Eklavya and a Question-Answer session with the film's director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The event was attended by over 300 people at the new Billy Wilder Theatre and Eklavya had the distinction of being the first Indian film to be screened at this theatre which is named in honour of the legendary writer-director of American classics like 'Double Indemnity' and 'Some Like It Hot'.
