Farhan Akhtar Rocks On

Though it's enormously hush-hush at the moment, here's the news on the biggest singing talent ready to burst on to the music scene in 2008. It's none other than director-turned actor Farhan Akhtar who not only produces and stars in Rock On; he also sings as many as four songs in the film. The film features Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Luke Kenny and Farhan as members of a rock band.

Farhan went into the studio very recently to record four tracks, all solos composed by close friends and collaborators Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. This probably makes Farhan the only director in the world who's not just an actor but also a singer….four times over.

Exclaims Farhan, "Yeah, what a trip! Actually, I've been playing the guitar for ten years now. In my late teens and early 20s I fantasized about being a rock star. This film gives me a chance to live out my fantasy. So, when the director Abhishek Kapoor met me and told me I was to play a member of a rock band and I actually get to sing my own songs I was quite kicked about it."

Farhan went into the recording studio to first try out his singing voice before actually recording the songs.
