Star designer Vikram Phadnis is all set to make his directorial debut in April and is keen to cast Madhuri Dixit in the principal role. "Let me clarify at the very outset. Madhuri hasn't signed the film yet. We are in talks for sure. I have met her and am awaiting her feedback," Vikram tells me. A section of the media has reported that Madhuri has already come on board, but this official confirmation should put an end to rumors.
Not much is known about Vikram's debut film, but the designer says it's a heroine-centric film. "An extremely sensitive story with lots of emotions thrown in," he adds. What if Madhuri decides against doing the film? Has he thought of alternatives? "I have very limited choices as far as actors are concerned. I haven't thought beyond Madhuri at the moment. I don't want to have a negative approach while starting out," he says.
Vikram is also undecided about who would produce the film. Again, a section of the media has stated that Ratan Jain of Venus will produce the project, but Vikram denies it outright. "That's untrue! I will approach a producer only after I have finalized the star cast. I have a few options, but I am keen to finalize the stars first," he adds.
Vikram is keen to start the film in April. Watch this space for further developments!
