Sure, the exams begin in March. Also, there's World Cup. Yet, the line-up of films in March is eye-popping. If you take a look at the films slated for release next week itself, you'd realize that there's going to be real maara-maari for theatres [filmi lingo].

9th March has Sarhad Paar [finally releasing next week], Red - The Dark Side, the Oscar nominee Water, 1971 as well as Wounded. There's Mel Gibson's Apocalypto also, if you include foreign films. With Nehlle Pe Dehlla this week and Sarhad Paar next week, it's going to be two Sanju starrers back to back.

16th March is crowded again -- Just Married, Hat Trick, Zamaanat and 300, the English film that opens in India simultaneously with the U.S. release. Also, it's dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu for the Indian audiences.

There's some respite on 23rd March, with two diverse films hitting the marquee -- Namastey London and The Namesake.

Two Sunny Deol starrers have been announced for 30th March -- BIG BROTHER and THE CHALLENGE. Of course, there's a possibility that one of these would be shifted ahead. Also slated for release on this Friday are Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee, Khanna &Iyer, Delhii Heights and 50 Lakh.

A few more interesting observations...

  • What's common between the three releases on 11th May? English titles. CASH, METRO and MP3 [Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar] are confirmed on this date. There's a strong possibility that THE TRAIN [Emraan Hashmi] might also make it on this Friday. Yet another English title!
  • June is another hectic month. As of now, Fool And Final, Partner, God Tussi Great Ho, Johnny Gaddaar and Woodstock Villa are confirmed for this month. However, the release dates of the biggies are yet to be finalized. There's one more biggie, but with a confirmed date this time -- Jhoom Barabar Jhoom on 15th June.
  • Two sports-based films are expected to clash on 10th August -- Yash Raj's Chak De India [hockey] and UTV's Goal [soccer]. However, there's a possibility that Goal might be shifted ahead, since the Yash Raj - SRK combo is too big an opposition.
  • Expect fireworks on 12th October, as UTV and Yash Raj clash yet again. UTV's Jodhaa Akbar and Yash Raj's Laaga Chunari Mein Daag are confirmed on this date... and no one seems to be in a mood to budge to another date.
