Since actor Abhishek Bachchan slipped out of Rakeysh Mehra's autobiographical Delhi 6 about the director's growing-up years in the Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi, speculation has been rife about who will play Rakeysh's alter -ego.

Names like Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar and even Siddhartha from Rang De Basanti were bandied. The director denies that these names were ever considered. "The media came up with names. They knew better than me.

The fact is, after Abhishek's departure, I've been re-working the entire script. Now Delhi 6 is an entirely different kettle of fish from what it used to be earlier." The buzz is that Rakeysh now intends to make Delhi 6 as an international English-Hindi bi-lingual featuring newcomers.

Though the Rang De Basanti filmmaker doesn't confirm his next project's international ambitions, he doesn't rule out the fact that Delhi 6 could star newcomers. "Yes why not? The important thing is to maintain a transparency in the presentation. That's why I liked Ganesh Acharya's Swami. It has a very sweet simple 'European' feel to it. It doesn't hide behind unnecessary complexities."
