A Wednesday to remember

By Staff

Still from A Wednesday
Singh Is Kinng, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Phoonk, Rock On and now A Wednesday. After quite some time Bollywood has enjoyed a string of well made films arriving week after week. While the first four films in the list have already turned into box office success stories, the way A Wednesday is winning accolades all over, it won't be surprised if this film makes it five in a row when it comes to 2008 hits!

A Wednesday has opened to great critical response all over with acclaim being in a scale similar to that of Rock On, the film which has fetched the best reviews this year. What also works in the favour of A Wednesday is that unlike an Aamir or a Mumbai Meri Jaan, this one is truly commercial cinema at it's best with ample thrilling moments thrown in a tout 100 minutes narrative which keeps the viewers' attention on.

Though the film does deal with a serious issue (terrorism), it doesn't once get so rooted into realism that the commercial aspects take a backseat. Instead, the film gets into a roller coaster ride with director Neeraj Pandey demonstrating such grip in his narrative that one can't help but happily accompany him in this cat and mouse journey.

Apart from critics who have unanimously hailed the film with hardly a review coming up with a rating less than 4 stars, even audience has liked the film immensely which speaks volumes about the entertainment value that A Wednesday comes with. Word of mouth has been superb which has ensured that this Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher and Jimmy Shergill starrer film gains from strength to strength with every passing day.

With hardly any major release in the month of September, A Wednesday is all set to win further attention for itself in days to come.
