Amrita and beau get family's blessings

On Friday night, Amrita Arora and boyfriend Shakeel Ladak's families gave the couple their stamp of approval. Says Amu's friend, "Last week, Amrita was upset about the fact that Shakeel's ex-wife Nisha Rana had been talking about Amu to common friends, saying that Amu snatched her husband away from her.

Amu was very hurt by the allegations and was moping about it, so Shakeel decided to have a surprise bash for her. He invited Amrita's and his parents, families and close friends to his Bandra residence at Carter Road where Amu and his parents met for the first time. Amu has met his parents and younger sister Shabana and they are very fond of Amu."

According to the friend, Shakeel has always been very supportive of Amu's career and concerned about her personal and emotional needs. "He saw Hello a couple of weeks before the release at a trial and made it a point to tell Amu he loved the film and that she had done a good job."

The party at Shakeel's home was an intimate get-together with food being catered from Taj Lands End, Bandra. The friend says, "Shakeel wanted both the families to meet and wanted it to be a pleasant surprise for Amu. Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Atul and Alvira Agnihotri, Sohail and Arbaaz Khan with wife Malaika were also present apart from a few of Shakeel's school and college friends.

Amrita's best friend Kareena Kapoor couldn't attend as she was in Delhi. Shakeel's family are simple and sweet people and it was obvious at the party that they are very fond of Amrita. The bash went on till 4 am." Amrita says, "We had a party but it's too private to talk about." The actress's next release is Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns where she plays Ajay Devgan's bespectacled sister and Arshad Warsi's ditzy girlfriend who messes up things between people all the time.
