Arjun and Mehr
Arjun Rampal and his wife Mehr Jesia have given up eating non-vegetarian food for 40 days. The couple decided to alter their eating habits after attending a pooja at Mehr's mother's place in Deolali. Says Mehr, "Arjun and I had gone to attend a pooja at the Shivji temple in Deolali where my mom stays and that's when Arjun and I decided to turn vegetarian for 40 days. We have finished 30 days already.

It's just a phase when you want to get cleansed and you decide to do it together. Of course, at home we have non-veg food when we have parties. The children too are exempted from the non-veg routine. We have also given up alcohol for this period of time."

Mehr adds that it's tough giving up non-veg food and alcohol as they are so used to it. "It's tough as long as you don't make a big deal of it. I gave up non-veg for a year when my dad went for an operation a year ago. And where Arjun is concerned, he has been into this much before I got married. He believes in Sai Baba and when we got married, he wouldn't have non-veg on Tuesdays and Thursday."

Arjun and Mehr share almost the same taste in non-veg food. While both are sushi freaks, their favourite meat dish is Parsi speciality dhansak. "Being Parsis, my parents can't understand how we can give up eating non-veg but that's okay. Parsis eat non-veg at every meal." Recently, Mehr and Arjun shot for an ad campaign dealing with breast cancer. Mehr says, "The campaign was to create awareness." Mehr is happy that the work on their lounge bar Lap, which they will be launching in New Delhi later this year, is going fine. "Arjun is a party animal and is extremely involved in it."
