Darsheel creates history at Filmfare Awards

Darsheel Safary the wonder kid of Taare Zameen Par has broken the 52 year old tradition of the Filmfare Awards and has become the first child actor to be nominated in the Best Actor category. Darsheel has been nominated his role as Ishaan Awasthi, a dyslexic child in the movie. He will now be competing with biggies like Shahrukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor for the best actor title.

Darsheel who made people cry with with his powerful performance in the movie was upset with the 14th Star Screen Awards when he was not nominated for Best Actor category and rather as the Best Child Artist. He later won the title but personally boycotted the event by not attending it. He even went on to say that he should have been nominated for the Best Actor award as he played the lead role in the movie.

It is a big moment not just for Darsheel but for the entire Taare Zameen Par team as they have been nominated in five categories including the Best Film. Aamir Khan has been nominated in the Best Director and Best Actor in a supporting role category. Prasoon Joshi has been nominated in the Best Lyrics category for his song Maa. It remains to be seen whether Darsheel can beat Shahrukh and others in the race for the title.
