Farhan Akhtar to star in Rock On!

Mumbai (ANI): Ace director Farhan Akhtar makes his debut as an actor with the upcoming Bollywood flick Rock On! which is a story of four friends out to re-create their passion for music and art as they finally begin to live out their dream by forming a rock band. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani jointly produce the film Rock On! while Abhishek Kapoor directs it. Kapoor's film stars Prachi Desai, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Luke Kenny, Shahana Goswami and Koel Puri.

Farhan made his debut as a director and a writer with a Box-Office hit Dil Chahta Hai in the year 2001. The film later bagged National Film Award for best feature film in Hindi. Speaking to the media Farhan said that he hoped that the audience would connect with this film.

"Whatever feedback that I'm getting and whenever the people come up to me and say that they are really looking forward to my film that's very encouraging and acts like a moral booster for me. We have worked very hard for something that is not considered normal as the film has rock band in the background. I'm also very sure that the emotional content of this film is something that the people will connect with. So I'm very excited and I am looking forward to sharing this movie with the audience," said Farhan.

For actress Prachi Desai also Rock On! is debut film and she spoke to media in length about her role. "I play a sophisticated South Mumbai girl in this film. My character's name is Sakhshi. She is a very calm girl and handles all her situations very calmly. She can compromise everything for the person she loves the most to see him happy," said Prachi.

Trio of Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonca have composed music of the film while Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics. Plethora of singers including Suraj Jagan, Raman Mahadevan, Caralisa, Dominique and Farhan Akhtar have lent their voice to the songs of the film.

The film is slated for August 29 release.
