Kirron
Kher
has
always
been
admired
for
her
huge
collection
of
sarees
but
this
is
one
time
when
her
sarees
got
flak
rather
than
praise.
Says
a
source,
"The
entire
cast
of
Saas
Bahu
Aur
Sensex,
from
Masumeh
to
Tanushree
Dutta,
is
walking
the
ramp
for
a
fashion-cum-marketing
tie-up
where
they
will
wear
designer
Satya
Paul's
creations.
The
only
person
who
won't
be
wearing
Paul's
sarees
is
Kirron
Kher.
When
she
heard
that
Paul
was
designing
her
sarees,
she
threw
a
mini-tantrum
and
refused
to
wear
them.
The
actress
said
she'd
only
wear
her
own
sarees
as
she
had
in
Saas
Bahu
Aur
Sensex.
The
producers
Jayshri
Makhija
and
Raman
Lamba
had
no
choice
to
comply
or
Kirron
wouldn't
have
walked
the
ramp.
Incidentally,
she's
one
of
the
main
characters
in
the
film."
Kirron
says,
"Yes,
I
told
them
that
I
will
be
wearing
my
own
sarees
as
I
don't
wear
the
kind
of
sarees
that
Satya
Paul
designs.
I
didn't
put
my
foot
down
or
throw
a
tantrum
but
said
it
would
be
impossible
to
get
so
many
blouses
stitched
on
time
for
the
event.
I
was
reasonable
about
it."
According
to
Kirron,
she
has
over
500
sarees
in
her
collection
some
of
which
she
even
wore
for
Saas
Bahu
Aur
Sensex.
Kirron
says,
"I
love
wearing
ethnic
sarees
and
my
character
in
the
film,
Binita
Sen
is
born
and
brought
up
in
Mumbai
but
goes
to
Kolkata
after
her
marriage.
But
she
undergoes
a
divorce
and
returns
to
Mumbai
with
her
grown-up
daughter
(Tanushree)
starting
life
afresh.
The
mother-daughter
relationship
is
strained.
I
have
worn
lots
of
tusshars
(Bengali
handloom
silk),
tangails
(traditional
Bengali
cotton
sarees
with
woven
borders)
in
the
film
which
have
been
taken
from
my
own
personal
collection."
Kirron
says
that
she
has
particular
places
to
buy
her
sarees
from
all
over
India.
"I
love
to
wear
only
woven
handloom
silk
and
cotton
sarees.
While
I
buy
my
tusshars
from
the
Weaver's
Studio
in
Kolkata
and
tangails
from
Kanishka,
I
buy
silks
and
Kanjeevarams
from
L'Affaire
in
Delhi
as
the
collections
are
larger,
more
beautiful
and
embroidered.
In
Chennai,
I
pick
up
my
Kanjeevarams
from
Usha
Ranganathan
and
from
Sundari
Silks
owned
by
Rajaram
who
has
good
taste."
Kirron
will
be
soon
going
on
a
shopping
binge
in
Kolkata,
Delhi
and
Chennai
when
she
goes
on
a
promotional
tour
of
Saas
Bahu
Aur
Sensex.
She
says,
"I
love
going
to
different
cities
to
pick
up
different
sarees
from
my
favourites" says
Kirron,
whose
next
release
will
be
Karan
Johar's
Dostana."
