Malaika celebrates her birthday in style

Malaika Arora brought in her 33rd birthday (yesterday) at her sister Amrita's boyfriend Shakeel Ladak's terrace flat in Bandra, a day earlier. And one of the guest invitees was Shahrukh Khan! Says one of the guests at the party, "Initially, Malaika and Arbaaz had decided to have the party in December along with their 10th wedding anniversary, so Salman would also be present; but they decided against it. This party was a last moment one with invites sent out by 6 pm.

The funny thing is Salman is coming back from London today. They could have waited a day. Shahrukh and Gauri were also invited though SRK didn't go, as Gauri is in Dubai. Apart from them, only close family and friends were invited."

There were 20 guests at the party. The guests who attended the party was Chunky and Bhawna Pandey, Anu and Sunny Dewan, Seema and Sohail Khan, Twinkle (Akshay Kumar's wife), Abhishek Kapoor (Gattu), Karisma Kapoor and Malaika's friends from the modelling world like Madhu Sapre. Malaika's birthday cake was a designer cheesecake and the food was catered to from Taj Lands End.

Arbaaz Khan says, "Actually, we were not in a party mood having just got back in from Goa after attending Wendell Rodericks and Jerome's anniversary celebrations. We wanted to keep it a quiet family dinner. Everything happened at the last minute."

What did he gift Malaika? "She had wanted a couple of things so I will let her choose what she wants. Earlier, I would surprise her but then she would tell me that I should have asked her. Now I prefer her to select what she wants to buy. I can't disclose the gifts as they are very personal."

Malaika says, It was Arbaaz and Amu who organised the entire party. I was in a very anti-social mood as I had just come back from Goa. Arbaaz and Amu felt bad so they decided to have the party. I didn't even pick up the phone to make a call."

And what is the gift that she wants Arbaaz to give her? "Well I am a sucker for holidays and luxurious spas and I have been hinting to Arbaaz that I want to go back to the Maldives so maybe he is getting me that as a gift." No rocks from hubby? Malaika laughs, "I have gifted myself a solitaire diamond ring - a huge rock. I told Arbaaz I like it so I can't and there will be no discussion on this. I just went and bought it."
