In
an
upcoming
film,
Om
Puri
would
be
doing
something
which
he
has
probably
never
done
in
mainstream
Bollywood
commercial
cinema.
Though
the
veteran
actor
has
been
seen
stripped
till
waist
down
in
some
of
the
art-house
cinema
which
he
did
early
in
his
career
(and
later
in
Aastha
with
Rekha),
it
would
be
for
the
first
time
that
he
would
be
removing
his
shirt
for
a
hardcore
Bollywood
film.
The
man
who
has
managed
to
convince
him
to
do
so
is
Priyadarshan
and
the
film
is
this
week's
release
Mere
Baap
Pehle
Aap.
Informs
a
source,
"The
film
is
an
out
and
out
comedy
where
Om
Puri
plays
a
flirt
middle
aged
man.
He
keeps
getting
caught
on
the
wrong
side
of
the
law
and
invariably
it
is
by
the
cop
played
by
Archana
Puran
Singh."
What
is
Archana's
character
here?
Replies
the
source,
"She
plays
a
hard
nosed
female
cop
who
detests
men
with
roving
eye.
This
is
why
the
characters
played
by
Puri
saab
and
Paresh
Rawal
ji
get
caught
under
her
close
eye.
In
one
of
the
many
hilarious
sequences
in
the
film,
when
Archana
catches
hold
of
Puri
saab,
she
makes
him
do
'uthak-baithak',
a
standard
way
of
mildly
punishing
such
Romeos.
Also,
he
is
seen
only
in
his
trousers
in
this
scene."
"This
is
not
all.
Even
when
this
character
is
going
through
such
a
situation,
instead
of
being
humiliated,
he
instead
starts
flirting
with
Archana
Puran
Singh
as
well.
The
scene
is
certainly
going
to
get
the
house
down",
laughs
the
source.
Mere
Baap
Pehle
Aap
is
yet
another
comedy
outing
for
Priyadarshan
after
Dhol.
Though
his
last
release
was
Bhool
Bhulaiyaa,
it
saw
quite
some
drama
and
thrills
amalgamated
with
comedy.
However,
this
Akshaye
Khanna
starrer
sticks
entirely
to
the
comic
genre.
