Sajid's connection with Sonia Gandhi

When Sajid Nadiadwala selected Vicenza for the shooting of his next production Kambakht Ishq, he had no idea it was so close to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's birthplace. Speaking from Italy, Sajid says, "Director Sabir Khan and I saw the place on the Internet and decided to shoot there as it was completely different from Los Angeles, where we earlier shot the film. LA is a concrete jungle while Vicenza is an ancient town full of beautiful villas.

We loved its Gothic look. We had no idea that Soniaji used to stay here. It was only after we started shooting there that the people here and members of the Film Commission told us that she was born and brought up 20 km from here. We were naturally very excited that our country's leader used to live here. In fact we want to find out the protocol of how we can visit her town and see where she lived."

Currently the unit is shooting a song on Akshay, Kareena, Amrita and Aftab in Vicenza choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant and will shift to Venice on October 9. Some of the other celebrities from Vicenza include footballer Roberto Baggio, writer Fernando Bandini and athlete Gelindo Bordin among others.
