Shiney clarifies his age again before birthday

Says Shiney Ahuja whose birth year is always mentioned as 1968, seven years before his parents were wed, embarrassing them. Shiney Ahuja celebrates his birthday tomorrow but he's apprehensive that the media will write it as 'May 15, 1968' yet again when he was actually born in 1975!

Not that old

Laughs Shiney, "It's bizarre but every year my birthday is shown as 1968 which makes me 39. Apart from the fact that I am not so old, it's embarrassing for my parents and me as we have to keep giving clarifications to family and friends.

My parents got married in 1971 and I have an elder sister, Shweta, who was born in 1973. So obviously, if I was born in 1968, I'd have to be illegitimate? It's shocking and distressing for my parents!

I can laugh it off as I am used to all this. But when I do, my parents get upset with me. So I am clarifying this for my parents - I am neither 39 nor am I illegitimate."

It's a special day for Shiney tomorrow as his mother has flown down from Delhi to be with him and his wife Anu. "Dad (Colonel Suraj Prakash Ahuja) would have come too as he celebrates with us every year but this year he has some urgent work commitments."

This will also be the first time Shiney celebrates his birthday with his seven-month old daughter Arshiya. "It's very special occasion. I've grown as a dad but the best change is that today I love to wake up in the mornings.

Earlier it was a pain but now Arshiya comes and sits on my chest and keeps saying 'papa' till I wake up. It's the most precious moments of my life."
