Kajol's father died this morning

Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.

The whole of Bollywood has come to a sudden standstill with the most unexpected news that broke out this morning. Shomu Mukherjee, the proud father of bubbly and effervescent Kajol, father-in-law to Ajay Devgan and Tanuja's husband passed away this morning. Death could not have been stone-hearted to have taken away the man, when his darling daughter and son-in-law's magnum opus film (U, Me Aur Hum) is just a day away from its gala release.

Hailing from a family headed by his father, Sashadhar Mukherjee (famously known as the founder of Filmistan studios), Shomu was the youngest of the three siblings, the other two being Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. While Joy and Deb went on to become actors, Shomu took the plunge to become a director and producer.
