Vivek Oberoi becomes a wedding planner

Vivek Oberoi wishes there were two of him. The demands from his work and from his family are stressing him out. Presently, the actor is busy with the shooting of Kookie Gulati's untitled film; and when he is not on the sets, he is busy planning his little sister Meghna's wedding to Amit (last name withheld for privacy) who belongs to a business family.

The groom's family is from Mumbai and run a transport business. They provide big specialised trucks to transport vehicles from manufacturing plants to the showrooms. The wedding festivities will be on between November 12-14 at Rishikesh. Meghna, who is an artist, would often go to the pilgrimage spot to paint and when she took her finance there, he too loved the place. It was their joint decision to have the wedding there.

A close friend of the Oberoi family reveals, "The wedding will be a three-day affair. Vivek has been involved in every detail of his only sister's shaadi. From the colour of the wedding lehenga to the guest list and Meghna's test make-up. He has also been asked to put the whole sangeet ceremony together." Meghna dotes on her bhaiyya and wants his approval on everything, so Vivek is making sure he's there for her, despite the gruelling 9 am to 9 pm shift he's pulling.

The bride's parents, Suresh and Vasundhara, are in Delhi organising everything else. The wedding held on the banks of the river Ganga will be a small and exclusive affair. There will be diyas (candles made of earth) lighting up the background. "Vivek's family is very spiritually inclined and Meghna wanted to avoid the circus that is the hallmark of a 'film family' wedding in Mumbai. Vivek and his family are very proud of Meghna's decision. The bride and groom's relatives will be flying in to Rishikesh from India and all over the world."

After the wedding, Meghna will also spend some time with orphans at an Uttaranchal ashram. "The children stay and study at the ashram and Meghna plans to make a donation there. It's the most important day of her life and she wants the special feeling one gets by giving to people." After the wedding, VO fly off to US for Karan Johar's next. Both his producers, KJo and Kumar Taurani, have been very accommodating and have worked out his dates so he could be present for the wedding.
