Amrita and Shakeel Ladhak are back from their three-week honeymoon in Europe. The glowing actress describes her honeymoon travels as "a fantastic road trip." The couple originally planned to go to Mexico but had to change the venue because of the civil strife there. Amrita says that the trip was planned entirely by her husband. "Shakeel is a great planner. From Mumbai, we went to Barcelona in Spain, Paris, Italy, Capri, Venice, Florence and London. "
She says that they had a great time exploring all of Europe but Paris turned out to be unexpectedly cold and they weren't prepared for that as they hadn't carried warm clothes, "But that didn't matter. We managed to make do with what we had. We did stuff I've never done before, like travelling by Euro Rail. In Italy, we moved around on a Vespa or scootie and in Capri we travelled by boat.
Shakeel had taken his international car and bike licenses with him so we never had a problem hiring and driving the vehicles ourselves." In stead of driving From Naples to Capri, the couple took a boat. Amu adds, "Shakeel arranged for us some of the most old and beautiful places to stay in.
In Barcelona, we stayed at the lovely Ras Ramblas street, famous for it's architecture. We spent a lot of time visiting the garden and buildings of architect Antonio Goudi as Shakeel loves architecture. We'd leave our room in the morning and return at night. We walked around a lot. In Venice, we stayed at an old Venetian castle, the Luna Bagliani."
Diet went on a toss on the honeymoon as the couple gorged on pastas and pastries. "We went crazy over the food in Europe. My favourite was spaghetti pomidieri while Shakeel's was spaghetti bolognaise. In Paris, we went to fine dining restaurants like Cabaret and for this musical show called Crazy Horse with Dita Von Teese in it.
It's like a new, funkier version of Moulin Rouge. In London, saw We Will Rock You, a play based on Freddie Mercury's life." Shopping was not a priority on this trip for the shopaholic actress, " We wanted to explore cities and cuisines. It was more like a self discovery trip."
The couple is back home now and she is enjoying being married, "It's the most awesome feeling to be with someone you love for the rest of your life. Shakeel is a fantastic husband!" When asked if she will continue to be seen in films she sighs, "That's the most annoying question everyone asks me! Will I still be working? Yes I will. Nothing has to change."
