Feroz Khan succumbs to cancer

Bollywood producer, director and actor Feroz Khan died at his farmhouse in Bangalore late on Sunday, April 26. The 69-year-old actor, who died of cancer, is survived by his son actor Fardeen Khan and daughter Laila.

The flamboyant filmmaker and actor had been battling with cancer for the past one year and was treated at a hospital in Mumbai. However, his health deteriorated and he passed away yesterday at his farmhouse on Tumkur Road in Bangalore. The funeral procession will be taken out from his farmhouse to the Johnson Market Graveyard for the burial at 5.30 pm today. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan is expected to pay his last tribute to the filmmaker and actor.

Feroz Khan was born in Bangalore on September 25, 1939. He did his schooling in the city after which he left for Mumbai to chase his Bollywood dreams. He divorced his wife Sundari in 1985 after 20 years of marriage.

Feroz was known for films like Qurbani, Dharmatma, Arzoo, Aurat, Safar and Jaanbaaz. Dharmatma, which he produced, directed and acted, was a huge hit. He was last seen in the 2007 comedy hit film Welcome by Anees Bazmee. Some of his prestigious awards include Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, Zee Cine Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2008 and Stardust Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
