Harishchandrachi Factory: India’s official entry to Oscars

No more speculations. Marathi film Harishchandrachi Factory by writer and director Paresh Mokashi has been selected as India"s official entry to the Oscars in the Foreign Film Category.

The Film Federation of India headed by Asha Parekh announced the nomination to the Oscars for the year 2010. Harishchandrachi Factory, which has won several international awards and honours, was selected from 15 other films including New York and Delhi 6.

Harishchandrachi Factory directed by Paresh Mokashi is based on Dadasaheb Phalke"s experience while making Raja Harishchandra in 1913. It was the first Indian feature film. It has Nandu Mahadev and Vibhavari Deshpande playing Phalke and his wife. Actors like Mohit Gokhale, Atharva Karve, Dilip Joglekar and Pravin Tarde are also in the cast. It will be released in India shortly.
