Manoj Kumar felicitated with Phalke Award

Dadasaheb Phalke Academy today on Monday May 4th evening had organized an award function to commemorate the 140th birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke, at Bhaidas Auditorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai. The hall was packed with dignitaries from Bollywood of present day and yesteryears. Mahesh Bhatt was the chief guest of honour.

Randhir Kapoor came in as his grand father, actor Prithviraj Kapoor was being posthumously honoured with a Phalke Kalpataru Award at the function. Amongst others honoured at the same event were Manoj Kumar (who came in with son Kunal Goswami) and was conferred with the Phalke Ratna Award, music industry's living legend singer Shamshad Begum who was honoured with the Phalke Golden Singer Award, Ashutosh Gowariker who was given the Phalke Memorable Commercial Film Award.

Father of Anil-Boney and Sanjay Kapoor, veteran producer Surinder Kapoor who was specially felicitated with the LV Prasad - Phalke lifetime achievement award. His whole family was present minus son Anil Kapoor and grand daughter Sonam Kapoor as both are learnt to be out of Mumbai. Shammi Kapoor was honoured with Phalke Legend Actor Award but he couldnt make it because of his ill health. Himesh Reshammiya's father Vipin Reshammiya too was amongst the honored dignitaries.

Perhaps that is why Himesh's wife was seen by the media for the first time ever at any public function. Himesh's son too was present at the event.
