Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) launched a protest against screening of the movie Billu starring Shahrukh Khan. They objected that the lyrics of the song 'Marjaani" insult the works of Prophet Mohammed. Over 500 workers of the MSN protested outside a theatre at Kurla and demanded the deletion of item number starring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor as it hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslims.

The MNS workers issued a three-day ultimatum to the producers asking them to delete the song from movie in theatre across the country. Irrfan Khan who plays the leading role in the movie said that there has been complete misunderstanding of the song and Shahrukh had given his explanation in the past. He added that the motive behind such a protest was to grab public attention.

This is not the first time that the movie has been under controversy. Its initial title Billu Barber had to be changed three days prior to its release as the Salon and Beauty Parlour Association had asked the producers to drop the word 'Barber' as it was derogatory. Shahrukh who is in the hospital recovering from his shoulder surgery was unavailable for comment.
