NRI ready to take care of Rubina's education

Following the reports that Slumdog Millionaire kid Rubina Ali's father tried to sell her to an Arabian for 200000 pounds, a NRI businessman has come forward to help out the poverty-stricken family.

A R Vanoo, an NRI settled in Doha, Qatar, is willing to take care of Rubina's education upto Master's degree or even doctorate level provided she has the will to study. He is ready to send her to any school in any part of the world including IB (International Baccalaureate) School, which is known for high school fees.

The good Samaritan met Rubina's family recently and offered his help. He said that he hasn't seen Slumdog Millionaire but the recent media reports of the father trying to sell his daughter moved him. He added that he couldn't watch her suffer so much.

Vanoo, who runs petrochemicals, oil and gas exports business, has been working for several years with Anjuman-Ittehad-Ul-Mushtaqeem, an NGO that that works to educate people in rural areas. He proposed to despatch money for Rubina's education through this NGO.

It was reported that Rubina's father Rafiq Qureshi was arrested over the revelation by a British tabloid News of the World that he tried to sell his daughter to an Arab family. The sting operation carried out by the tabloid had created a big uproar.
