A session court in Mumbai adjourned the hearing of Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja's bail application till July 7 as the defence has sought more time in the bail plea. Shiney's lawyer Shrikant Shivade requested the court for some more time to go through prosecution's reply and the investigation reports prepared by the police. The actor has been arrested for raping his maid servant till July seven after the defence sought more time.

The actor had suffered a major setback in the case when DNA tests conduced on him proved sexual intercourse with the girl. The actor judicial custody was extended to July 16 by the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The case might be fast tracked as the National Commission for Women has demanded for it from the Maharashtra government. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan had also hinted for quick trial to ensure justice and rehabilitation to the victim.
