A Mumbai court transferred the case against Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, accused of raping his maid servant to a fast track court. The actor was serving his judicial custody at Mumbai's Aurther Road jail. This development comes more than two months after he was arrested on June 14 after his maid servant filed an FIR with the Oshiwara police station. DNA tests conducted on the victim and the actor had confirmed sexual intercourse.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan had promised that the case would be moved to a fast track after the National Commission for Women had made the demand. Shiney's bail application has been pending with the Sessions court and will come up for hearing after which it trial will be taken up at the fast track court. The trial is expected to star at the fast track court in early September and judgement will be delivered within two weeks.
