Shiney's custody extended again

In what seems to have become a norm the judicial custody of Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja was extended for the fifth time. The Andheri metropolitan magistrate extended Shiney's judicial custody by 14 days to August 27. Shiney who is charged with raping his maid servant at his residence has been lodged in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail.

The Andheri metropolitan magistrate has meanwhile transferred the case to Sessions Court as it did not have the jurisdiction to conduct the trial in the case. The offences under which Ahuja has been booked is punishable with more than three years imprisonment and thus falls under the jurisdiction of the Sessions Court.

The Mumbai Police on Tuesday filed a 109 page charge sheet against the 36 year old actor. The sessions court had in July rejected his bail application after observing that there was prima facie evidence against the actor. The Police on its part believe they have enough evidence to nail the actor and get harshest of punishment for him.
