Suniel Shetty turns farmer in Red Alert

Suniel Shetty has never worked in a realistic film, but he's winning accolades for portraying the role of a farmer caught between Naxals and police/government in Red Alert – The War Within, directed by Ananth Mahadevan for producer T.P. Aggarwal. What prompted Ananth to cast Suniel in a serious, realistic, unconventional film?

"That's what Suniel asked me," Ananth recalls, "I distinctly remember, Suniel was perplexed when I offered him a 'solo hero' film. But when he read the story, he realized Red Alert was not one of those films that he had been associated with in the past."

Suniel gradually became serious when he started preparing for the role. "He shed all those attributes he's known for and slipped into the role of Narsimha. I feel vindicated now that Suniel has won acclaim and awards for his performance at various international festivals," Ananth states.
