Mumbaikars defied Shiv Sena's diktat and gave a thumbs-up to Shahrukh Khan starer My Name Is Khan on Friday after the movie releases amidst protests from Bal Thackrey's party. The fear and scepticism over the release of the movie ended on a jubilant note with as many as 40 odd theatres in the city screening the movie snubbing the Shiv Sena on face. The administration on it's part had made necessary security arrangements to counter Shiv Sena'a bluff.

There were some theatres which had cancelled the morning show due to threats from the Sena but by afternoon the almost all the theatres started screening the movie. The shows ran house full with most of the fans giving a thumbs up to Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and director Karan Johar for the wonderful movie. The movie has already received great reviews with many critics calling it Shahrukh Khan's best ever performance.

Shahrukh who was attending the prestigious Berlin Film Festival where his movie is being screened constantly thanked his fans on Twitter. In a Twitter post Shahrukh Khan wrote “I am humbled by this show of love and kindness. So don't know what else to say, overwhelmed and promise will make India proud with my hard work . He also wrote “To all on twitter for ur love. a big thanx. happy birthday..best of luck for exams..and happiness"

A defeated Shiv Sena however claimed that Shahrukh had apologised after he had tweeted “Once again my fellow countrymen, if anything i have said wittingly or unwittingly to have disturbed any sentiments.... i sincerely from the bottom of heart regret having hurt so many." But Shahrukh later clarified “Just hearing some media reports. just so that all know...wot i say here is for my fans across the world. that's all."
