Theatres withdraw My Name is Khan advance bookings

Petrified by the violent protest of the Shiv Sena activists, theatre owners have withdrawn the advance bookings of Shahrukh Khan's My name is Khan in Mumbai.

Multiplex chains like PVR, Big Cinemas, Adlabs, Fun Cinemas and Cinemax, and single screen theatres in the city have stopped advance booking of the film. It is expected to open at 4.00 pm today but nothing is certain.

Demanding Shahrukh to apologise for favouring the inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in the IPL, the Shiv Sena activists on Tuesday protested outside the theatres and vandalised screens. The police said that 1,023 Sainiks have been arrested in the last 24 hours for protesting against the film. 955 of them were picked up under the preventive action while the rest were put behind bars for different cases.

The city police are ready to take on the activists and no leave would be granted owing to the crisis. They have assured full security to the theatres screening My Name is Khan. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena has intensified its threat to ban the film in the city.
